Getting to play our first gig of 2015 at Barleycorn, truly was a sign that this is really going to be OUR year! This venue, adored by all music lovers and music supporting communities, has been a platform for many South African musical heroes. So to have the honor to grace this same stage as so many talented musicians was really a treat!
Minutes before we got on stage to play a 20 min sort of open-mic-slot, we were told that the main act of the night couldn’t make it anymore…And that we had to fill in! So with nothing more than a 40 minute rehearsal for this big opportunity, we reaaaally had our work cut out for us.
And then something magical happened. We got on stage, closed our eyes (not literally), and just played; the music and what we felt in our hearts. We fed off the audience paying such intense attention and them potentially feeling every note and word. For a moment we were reminded of our passion, the reason we want to get up every morning to live for our dream. And to make a living as musicians, because that is what keeps our hearts beating.
